If you have a PPO plan with out-of-network benefits, many plans reimburse a meaningful share of what you pay us. We work with a billing service called Thrizer that submits your superbills automatically after each session and deposits reimbursements directly into your bank account. You don't chase paperwork.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Mostly talking, and mostly you. Your therapist will ask what brought you in, what you've already tried, and what you'd want to be different — plus practical ground like confidentiality and how sessions work.

    You won't be pushed into anything heavy in session one, and you can decline any question. If you're nervous, you're in the majority, including among people who've done this before. The first session is the hardest and it gets noticeably easier.

  • Weekly to start — it's what builds the relationship and creates early momentum, and it matters especially in eating disorder work. As things improve, you and your therapist will decide together when to space sessions out.

    Overall length depends on what you're working on. Focused work on one issue can move in a few months; eating disorder recovery and complex trauma usually take a year or more. Your therapist will give you a realistic sense within the first few sessions.

  • Common, and worth taking seriously rather than treating as your failure. Sometimes it was the wrong fit. Sometimes it was the wrong specialty — a generalist treating an eating disorder is a genuinely different thing from a specialist treating one. Sometimes it was the right work at the wrong moment.

  • EMDR is offered by Chloe, who has completed EMDRIA-approved training (Parts 1, 2, and 3). If you’d like to do EMDR, simply request Chloe on your consultation form.

    Brittany works primarily in cognitive behavioral therapy for eating disorders and anxiety. EMDR isn't billed separately; it's the approach used within a standard session.

  • Yes — your health information is protected under HIPAA. There are narrow legal exceptions where we're required to break confidentiality to protect safety: reasonable suspicion of child or dependent adult abuse, or risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else. Your therapist will walk you through exactly what that means in your first session.

  • Research consistently finds teletherapy as effective as in-person work for most concerns, so it comes down to circumstances. In-person suits people who connect more easily face to face, or who want a physical boundary between therapy and home. Online suits tight schedules and no commute. You can mix the two.

  • Unfortunately not — our therapists are licensed in California and can only work with clients physically located in the state. That said, "located in" isn't "lives in": if you're a student from out of state attending school here, we can work together while you're in California.

  • We'll tell you. If you need medical monitoring, a dietitian, an intensive outpatient program, or residential treatment, we'll say so and help you find it. We'd rather refer you well than keep you at a level of care that doesn’t serve you — and we're glad to be here when you step back down.
